Cave Troll

Here is another Silver Line game I played recently, Cave Troll. My edition doesn’t have the miniatures, just the round cardboard tokens. I am not sure what miniatures would really add to this game as the carboard tokens work fine.

Cave Troll is an area control game where each player has a party of adventurers with different special powers as the try to dominate the rooms with the most gold to get the most points to win the game.

Included in the game are artifact tokens and of course each player gets a Cave Troll that kicks everyone’s butt and clears a room faster than a Tom Vasel speech on Euro game mechanics.

I enjoyed the game but felt I had very little control for some reason. I thought I was winning but lost the game because of the large number of variables by the different characters and how they interact with each other. For example, a dwarf in the room increases the gold count and certain artifacts twist the score in ways it is hard to defend against.

But I think this is a good thing as it spits in the face of a strategist who’s plans have been ripped apart by a Cave Troll.
